SAY NO TO VANDALISM

SAY NO TO VANDALISM is a vast campaign bringing streetworkers to certain Nunavik communities to raise awareness about violence and bullying. Their goal is to improve the quality of living environments and fight vandalism.

IN 2016-2017, THE CAMPAIGN WILL VISIT AKULIVIK, SALLUIT, KANGIRSUK and PUVIRNITUQ.

To have a look at our realisations in 2015, we suggest you to read our last status report.

From their base in Youth Centres and schools, the streetworkers seek out the young people on their turf. In addition to spontaneous gatherings, they also hold thematic workshops on vandalism caused by graffiti and property damage, anger management, respect for self and others, the environment, drugs, alcohol and tobacco, bullying, etc.

These interventions are designed to continue through time and in all of Nunavik’s communities. The streetworkers will use the interventions to spot leaders among the youth who will serve as their inner circle and receive specific training to ensure the continuity of the interventions in their community.

Community by community, our streetworker implements special projects including designing a workshop on bullying and filming a video on vandalism. They also organize sports or artistic activities to develop and enhance the youngsters’ talents.
